Uh-Oh! An exclamation, a mistake, an accident, and now, a cute little blockhead of your very own.

In 2007, the Uh-Ohs made their debut in Sparky's Coloring Book. The coloring and activity book features Sparky the Fire Dog, a mascot of the National Fire Protection Association, as well as a new comic strip all about the Uh-Ohs.

Just who are they? The Uh-Ohs are simple, colorful block-shaped critters. Friendly, playful, and curious, they were created to help kids learn about safety. They get into all sorts of trouble because no one ever taught them any better.

The Uh-Ohs want to explore the world, but they need a guide. Is it okay to put your hand in a toaster? Is it a good idea to skateboard without a helmet? What could happen if you leave balls and toys on the stairs?

One of the best - and most fun - ways to learn is to be the teacher. There are no adults in the Uh-Ohs' world, so the Uh-Ohs need kids to teach them. Their tiny town has streets, houses, playgrounds, beaches, and schools. There's danger: hot stoves, sharp knives, speeding cars. And there's protection: seat belts, life preservers, smoke alarms.

Through toys and an interactive Web site, children can play with their very own Uh-Ohs and help them navigate through their world. Uh-Oh characters like Pretzel the Cosmic Safety Ranger come with passwords that allow visitors to the Web site to play games and keep Pretzel safe from harm. The cute fit-in-your-hand toys hook onto a backpack or doorknob and serve as a reminder to stay safe.

The Uh-Ohs are characters of the NFPA, and Snap Productions owns the rights to develop related entertainment products. The Web site is being developed in partnership with Big Blue Dot, a Web and design studio adept at creating playful interactive online experiences. The animation is being developed in partnership with Dave Schlafman.
